How Can You Cope During Social Distancing? CBT Kenya

We are making adjustments to our lives in the backdrop of a global pandemic. In the past month, we have changed long-held practices and structures. It is natural for you to feel uncertain and anxious during this time. Allow yourself to feel that way. But the question on our minds is: how do I cope during this time? How do I take care of myself and my family physically and mentally?

One way is to focus your attention on the things you can control. Over the next couple of weeks, we want to invite you on a journey of change and growth.  A journey of self-care and hope in these uncertain times. Because in the midst of change you can not only survive but you can thrive as well. By harnessing the power of your mind and calming your thoughts you can control your actions and behavior during the quarantine period. We continue to encourage you to focus on the things that you can control and to let go of those you cannot control.

Things You Cannot Control

  • Government decisions
  • Getting sick
  • Spread Of the Disease
  • Recovery
  • Economic impact
  • Death

Things You Can Control

  • Your thoughts
  • Your food and alcohol consumption
  • How you spend your money
  • Your interaction with your loved ones
  • Your movement
  • How you manage your time
  • Your attitude

WEEK ONE FOCUS

For the week of 30th March to 5th April, we will focus on mindfulness.

  • What is mindfulness?
  • What are the benefits of practicing mindfulness during this time?
  • How do I practice mindfulness?
  • Additional reading resources.

We hope you will join us on this journey.
